Osun govt denies alleged diversion of councils’ funds

Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, yesterday, said that his fate in the judiciary remained firm and unshaken.

Oyetola said himself and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), would emerge victorious in respect of his petition before the election petition tribunal against the victory of Senator Ademola Adeleke.

He spoke during the yearly photograph and videography day celebration and fund-raising for the construction of the association’s N20 million ultramodern hall in Osogbo.

The governor, represented by his Special Adviser on Civic Engagement, Mr. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, said he was confident that he would reclaim his mandate at the tribunal.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the association, Isaac Adegoke, said that members of the association were solidly behind the governor and would continue to support him in prayers to emerge victorious at the tribunal.

Also, the Elerinrin of Ile-Ife, Oba Olaoluwa Mudasiru, commended the governor for his developmental strides.

He also appreciated the governor for his support of the association.

MEANWHILE, the Osun State Government has described as illogical and false the allegation by the governor-elect, Adeleke, that the local councils had been directed to return part of their allocations to the state.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Adebayo Adeleke, the state said the allegation was not only frivolous but had exposed the governor-elect as one who does not have any idea of how government activities are run.

According to the statement, the allegation was a mere concoction that existed only in Adeleke’s imagination, saying there was no such directive and there will never be, particularly now that the NFIU policy is in place and strictly being followed in Osun State.
