Bauchi APC boss kicks after suspension from ward
Professor Rufai Alkali has explained that he resigned as National Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to allow fresh hands to bring new ideas to the party and improve on his modest contributions.
Alkali disclosed this in a letter addressed to the party’s secretariat and made available to journalists in Abuja, yesterday.
The letter he signed on March 31, 2023, read in part: “Following keenly the events before, during and after the general elections of February 25 and March 18, 2023, it is my humble view that our party, the NNPP, has a great future and potential to emerge as the leading political force that is capable of winning the presidential and all other elections in 2027.”
While commending the party’s performance at the general elections, he added: “To achieve this, we must think ahead and plan ahead. And the time is now. Our great party, NNPP, will require major and fundamental structural and systemic changes and reorganisation at all levels to strengthen its base, improve its operational capabilities and generally enhance its competitive advantage above other political parties.”
Meanwhile, Bauchi State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Babayo Misau, has kicked against his suspension by his ward leadership in Kukadu Gundari, Misau Local Council.
The Ward Chairman, Ibrahim Lawan; Secretary, Aliyu Adamu and Assistant Women Leader, Asabe Ahmed, reportedly held a press conference over Misau’s suspension on Saturday, citing anti-party activities.
