• State emerges top in National Mathematics Olympiad
The Zamfara State government has praised the efforts of development partners for their continued support and assistance to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and vulnerable families in the state, adding that more humanitarian aid is needed.
In a statement issued by the Director of Information at the Zamfara State Ministry of Humanitarian and Relief Matters, Bashir Kabir Ahmed, and the Commissioner for Humanitarian and Relief Matters, Salisu Musa Tsafe, the government appealed for increased intervention from other stakeholders.
They encouraged partners to persist in their efforts to assist the poor and IDPs in the state.
Meanwhile, the Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board (ZSUBEB) has announced that the state has secured first place at the 61st National Olympiad and Quiz Competition organised by the Mathematical Association of Nigeria (MAN).
This was contained in a statement issued by the spokesman of the board, Musa Ibrahim Maizare, which was made available to newsmen in Gusau, the state capital.
According to the statement, the prestigious competition was held on September 1, 2025, at Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto, with participants from all 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
The Guardian reports that six outstanding students represented Zamfara State, two each from primary, junior secondary, and senior secondary schools, who were carefully selected by the state’s MAN branch.
In the highly competitive senior secondary school category, Zamfara’s representatives, Ahmad Muhammad and Sayyidat Sani, scored an impressive 98 per cent, securing the first position for the state, while Enugu State came second and Rivers State placed third.
