IGP orders deployment of AIGs, warns officers against misconduct
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, on Friday ordered the deployment of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) to head key zonal commands and the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Lagos.
Their deployment was announced in a statement signed by the spokesman of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
The newly assigned AIGs include AIG Suleiman M. Yusuf who has been deployed to Zone 9, Umuahia in Abia State, AIG Ahmed Ammani assigned to Zone 1 in Kano, AIG Zachariah Fera posted to Zone 4, Makurdi, Benue State and AIG Augustina Ogbodo appointed as AIG, FCID Annex, Onikan, Lagos.
“These appointments follow the retirement of several AIGs who previously headed the affected zones and the promotion of the former AIG Zone 1, DIG Ari Muhammed Ali, to Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations at Force Headquarters, Abuja,” Adejobi said.
He said IGP Egbetokun has warned the newly deployed officers against misconduct, urging them to imbibe the spirit of professionalism in discharging their duties.
The police boss also charged them with ensuring strict supervision, diligence, and adherence to policing ethics.
Egbetokun told them about the importance of keying into ongoing police reform initiatives to enhance professionalism and uphold ethical standards.
“The IGP’s directive aims to bolster the operational efficiency of the Nigeria Police Force and contribute to the security and development of the nation,” Adejobi said.
