Ihedioha, Obi seek prayers for public office holders

CAN, others knock Mbaka over Imo guber ‘prophecy’
Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha and former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, have called for prayers for political office-holders.

They spoke yesterday at the international crusade organised by the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries led by Lazarus Muoka in Mgbidi, Imo State.

Ihedioha said Imo government required the grace of God and prayers to lead and become prosperous.

On his part, Obi urged Nigerians to pray ceaselessly for those in leadership positions.

“Let God always touch their hearts to use public money for public good. It is very difficult to be in office. We are all looking for prayers, so that we can do the right thing for the society.”

Obi, who was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) vice presidential candidate in the 2019 general election, also urged Nigerians to remain steadfast on their prayers for the country and its leadership.

Meanwhile, more knocks have landed on the director of Adoration Ministries, Enugu Nigeria (AMEN), Fr. Ejike Mbaka, over his recent ‘prophecy’ on the Imo governorship.

Mbaka, in his New Year message, had predicted that the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Hope Uzodinma, would take over from PDP’s Emeka Ihedioha as Imo governor.

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Imo State chapter, said the cleric’s prediction was without substance, wondering why a matter before the Supreme Court would be so tossed around.

The chairman, Godson Ibeji, stated that CAN had consistently kicked against such predictions.

Also, Bishop Lucius Ugorji of Umuahia Catholic Diocese, who is also Apostolic Administrator of Ahiara Diocese, said the Catholic Church, which Fr. Mbaka belongs to as a priest, was not into fortune telling.

The Church, according to him, does not give authority to any priest to make predictions on who wins a court case or not, stressing that “anyone who speaks on such a matter is expressing his personal opinion.”

In the same vein, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Imo State chapter, advised Mbaka not to unduly inflame the polity and to leave Ihedioha alone.
