Members of Ijegun Ijeododo community in the Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State have appealed to government against demolishing their houses.

Members of Ijegun Ijeododo community in the Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State have appealed to government against demolishing their houses.

The community Chairman, Pastor Clement Nokwam, said the appeal became necessary because the landlords neither encroached on government land nor built on the master plan.

He urged the state government to stick to the original master plan, 2010-2020 and don`t yield to pressure to avoid chaos and distortion of the plan.

The landlords recalled that Lagos State acquired the Right Of Way for the proposed road in 1972, traversing Ijegun Roundabout through Leye Street to Ijedodo down to Abule–Ado.

They alleged on August 27, 2020 that officials of  the ministry wrongfully marked houses that situate at the right hand side of NNPC pipeline road from Five Junction of Ijegun through Ijeododo to Abule-Ado numbering over 800 including eleven 11 places of worship  to have contravened the Lagos State master plan.

The chairman debunked rumours that the affected people had to demolish their houses.

According to the chairman,  “the markings took the entire structures and the adjourning plots, making it one of the worst decisions ever to be contemplated.”
