Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has ordered a review of outstanding contracts. He, however, indicated the readiness of his administration to sustain existing road projects, just as he promised that he would not award new contracts until the existing 31 road projects are completed.
Addressing contractors at a meeting held at the Government House yesterday, the governor warned contractors handling road and other projects not to lobby for retention of their contracts by offering any money to anyone pretending to be the governor’s representative.

He said that the main qualification for the award of more contracts was  “doing quality jobs that would stand the test of time.”

Stressing that he has not mandated anyone to act as his agent, he added that his concern is to ensure that each contractor leaves his indelible mark on any job awarded to him to do and at a record time.
