THE Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, has formally directed that the appellations, His Excellency and Executive Governor, be dropped in all official and informal communication with him, and directed that he would rather want to be addressed as Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, Governor of Abia State.

A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Godwin Adindu, said:” The governor wants all public communication to be concentrated on the work and policies of the state, and not on the person of the governor, and has therefore directed all contractors, political groups, individuals and party loyalists not to put his portrait on billboards, posters and signage, but to only use the pictures of ongoing projects in their billboards and posters.”

According to the CPS, the governor also directed the general public to remove all congratulatory posters and election billboards littering and defacing the environment.

I applaud Dr. Ikpeazu for this action taken. We need to move away in Nigeria from the glorification and focus on personalities, but rather focus on the delivery of good governance and the betterment of all citizens. No more
the godfather approach to politics and government. Let it be truly government, of the people, by the people,
    for the people.
Thank you sir, for being a good example of appropriately directed focus. May Nigeria have more like you.
