Immigration partners foreign bodies on irregular migration
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has said it is partnering with the Swiss government and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) to enhance migration management at the Seme control post.
Its Public Relations Officer, Sunday James, dropped the hint in a statement yesterday after a delegation visited Comptroller-General Muhammad Babandede in Abuja.
Represented by Deputy Comptroller-General Nuruddeen Graham, the NIS boss said the visit was critical to the country’s fight against irregular migration, especially smuggling of migrants (SOM).
He pointed out that the collaboration was also pivotal to the Trafficking In Persons (TIP) which required concerted efforts of local and international partners.
The head of the delegation, Pfister Jolanda, said the visit was to assess NIS facilities with a view to exploring areas to support the service on migration management within the framework of Nigeria/Swiss partnership.
