The Imo State Government has refuted reports alleging that the Federal Government is planning to establish Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) and refugee camps in Nsu, Ehime Mbano Local Council of the state.

The Imo State Government has refuted reports alleging that the Federal Government is planning to establish Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) and refugee camps in Nsu, Ehime Mbano Local Council of the state.

This was debunked in a statement issued yesterday by the Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Declan Emelumba.  He accused an individual of peddling such rumour, inciting the people against the Federal Government, while wondering why he was not arrested by security operatives.

Emelumba clarified that what was being constructed in Nsu was a training facility for a skills acquisition programme for the people of the South East zone.

The statement wondered why there was distorted information on the earlier “harmless information” by the National Refugees Commission (NRC).  He urged the people of the state and South East generally to disregard any disinformation that the Federal Government was planning to camp repentant Boko Haram insurgents in the facility, urging the people to regard it as a “hate speech.”capable of making the country and the administration of  President Bola Tinubu ungovernable, by inciting Ndigbo against the Northerners.

The statement read: “This is a man who is notorious for churning out hate speeches, founded on stark ignorance of public politics and current affairs against Northerners. He deliberately twisted the news from the refugees’ commission to incite Ndigbo against other Nigerians.”
