Imo residents appeal to Buhari to cushion people’s hardships

Imo indigenes and residents in the 367 autonomous communities in the 27 Local Councils are complaining of intense hardships they are going through as a result of the scarcity of fuel, electricity power outage and hot weather.

Those who spoke to The Guardian on the matter include a former two- term Imo State House of Assembly member, Mr Oliver Enwerenem; rights activist, Emeka Onomamadu; Executive Director of a Non-Governmental Organisation, Noki Ebikam and Imo Youths Movement (IYM) President, Ambrose Amadi among others.

They all called for immediate intervention and application of people-friendly policies to cushion the effect of the economic crunch facing Nigerians.

Enwerenem said: “The Federal Government led by President Muhammadu Buhari should know that many people die in droves in many rural communities as a result of all manner of sufferings, such as hunger, lack of supply of electricity supply, scorching hot weather among others.
