Imo to partner Chinese on tourism, agriculture
For socio-economic growth, Imo State Government has said it would partner the Chinese Government in the areas of tourism, agriculture, industrialisation, social housing and integrated infrastructure development.
The State Liaison Officer in Lagos, Anthony Abili, who disclosed this to The Guardian, yesterday, in Owerri, said efforts had been made to attract Chinese investors to the state to explore various business opportunities for maximum economic growth and development.
He said he had, on behalf of the Imo government, met with the Consular-General of The Peoples Republic of China, Chu Maoming, represented by the Director, Consular section, Sun Jinlun in Lagos, for possible partnership between the state and Chinese government.
He stated that the state Governor, Emeka Ihedioha was passionate about social housing, which various companies and government agencies in the Peoples Republic of China have the technology and experience to provide through collaboration with the state government.
“Governor Emeka Ihedioha led government is poised to listen to prospective genuine investors with verifiable capacity and to introduce policies that would promote rapid investment, including tax incentives where necessary.”
He also disclosed plans by the state government to build an ICT Innovation hub in the state to empower the youth, who represents a veritable repository of educated, young and vibrant skilled labour for potential investors.
