The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had a slow start in the conduct of the ongoing Presidential and National Assembly elections in Ogun State, as election materials and personnel got to some polling units late.

In some of the polling units in Abeokuta, the state capital, security personnel and electorate were seen waiting for the electoral officers as at 9:20am, while in some others, accreditation and voting started as early as 8:35am.

Generally, there was large turout of voters who were willing to exercise their franchise despite the early morning sun, though many were seen in front of their homes, while others, especially youths were seen on the roads playing football.

Security is very tight across the state, as the Army, operatives of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), manned strategic areas to stop any breach of security.
