INEC issues Abia governor-elect, deputy certificate of return

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) National Commissioner in Charge of Anambra, Abia and Benue states, Festus Okoye, yesterday, issued the Abia State Labour Party Governor-elect, Dr. Alex Otti, and his deputy, Ikechukwu Emetu, with their Certificates of Return at Umuahia INEC office.

Okoye said that the issuance of Certificate of Return to elected public officers is in line with Section 72 (1) of the Electoral Act that it should be effected within 14 days after the poll results are announced.

Okoye said democracy could be nurtured to grow when stakeholders do the needful and remain vigilant. He commended Abians and contestants in the election for their roles in the successful elections in the state.
