The Chartered Institute of Forensics and Certified Fraud Investigators of Nigeria (CIFCFIN) has charged trainees to learn continuously. According to a statement, yesterday, by the institute, the call was made by the chairperson of the Professional Practice Committee, Madam Shiva Rae Kondoun, during the graduation of the second stream of the institute’s Professional Practice Training Module at the EFCC Academy in Abuja.

“This is not just a training session, it is a commitment to upholding forensic practices with utmost seriousness and professionalism,” she declared. The chairperson added: “I want to emphasise the importance of networking, continuous learning, and staying current.

“In forensics, as we often say, ‘you cannot be correct if you’re not current.’ Crime evolves daily, and your ability to stay ahead will set you apart as a professional.”

She urged them to expand their knowledge, noting: “We have introduced you to the threshold of forensic practice, it is now up to you, to fully immerse yourselves in it. The training you received is designed for global application. It is not confined to the Nigerian context, but prepares you to operate on a global scale.”

Kondoun stressed the importance of discipline, professional conduct and ethics, advising: “Let these values be the hallmarks of your work. As you are inducted today, remember that you are fully equipped to investigate and courageously report the truth.”

Earlier in his welcome address, the President/Chairman-in-Council of CIFCFIN, Dr Iliyasu Gashinbaki, charged the graduands to uphold discipline, ethics and professional conduct in all their endeavours, while networking and collaborating with fellow practitioners to expand the frontiers of knowledge and practice.

According to him, forensic practice requires tenacity, commitment, and excellence.

“We must collectively work to establish and maintain the highest standards of forensic practice. It is essential that our practitioners are seen as competent and reliable, as this will enhance the institute’s credibility in both local and international markets,” he added.
