The Inter Party Advisory Council, (IPAC) has challenged stakeholders in the Nigerian project to go back to the drawing board and amend the constitution to bar politicians from defecting from the political platforms on which they were elected into office.

It National Chairman, Chief Ameh Peter, said the elected politicians have become lords over their parties because of the defective law that enables them to defect to any platform without any repercussions.

Speaking against the backdrop of the recent crises rocking the House of Representatives under Femi Gbajiabiamila, he warned that the Speaker’s actions or inactions would define the Ninth National Assembly as the crises deepen.

He expressed fears that the fracas it would generate might be difficult to curtail, adding that based on the crack the situation has caused in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), there was the need to put in place disciplinary measures to discipline erring party members.
