Alerts on DSS torture of three Igbo women over refusal to lie against Kanu
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has blamed the continued detention of its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu on his refusal to accept Federal Government’s offer of property and monetary inducement to abandon agitation for Biafra.
IPOB revealed that the Federal Government was also relying on the promises of those it described as “traitors and black sheep in America and Europe” to assist in realising their plot.
It further alleged that Federal Government decided to hold Kanu indefinitely to see if it could possibly infiltrate the ranks of the movement and destroy it from inside, while Kanu remnains in custody.
In a statement issued, yesterday, by the Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, the group said: “The attention of IPOB has been drawn to the plans by the President Muhammadu Buhari government and his Fulani kinsmen to perpetually detain Kanu.
“Their annoyance with Kanu is his refusal to accept property and monetary inducement offered him to abandon the struggle for Biafra liberation.
“The Federal Government decided to hold our leader indefinitely to see if it can possibly infiltrate the ranks of our movement and destroy it from within, while our leader is in custody. They made the promise to the Federal Government during their secret visit to Aso Rock in December last year.
“We are also aware that the Federal Government has been lobbying the international community for their support against Biafra liberation, but they won’t succeed. Therefore, anybody distracting or causing division in the IPOB family is working for the Federal Government.”
The group insisted that Biafra remained a divine project and that it had gone beyond individuals and even Kanu, adding that millions of the oppressed Biafran youths, home and abroad, were now more aware and conscious of the struggle more than ever.
“It is only a matter of time and Biafra must come. It can only be delayed, but certainly not suppressed. Kanu must be released unconditionally. So, the Federal Government won’t achieve its aim, because our leader and IPOB members committed no crime known to law both locally and internationally.”
“Again, we want to raise the alarm that the Department of State Services (DSS) has concluded plans to keep torturing three innocent Igbo women in detention without allowing them out of their cell,” the statement added.
