ISWAP kills village head in Niger Republic

The Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) has killed the village head of Malam Boulamari, a locality situated between Mainé Soroa and Chetimari in the Diffa region of Niger Republic.

Security analyst and counterinsurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, disclosed this in a post he shared on his official X account on Wednesday.

Makama said images of the brutal act were published by the group, showing the summary execution of the traditional leader.

“The execution is believed to have been carried out as part of ISWAP’s ongoing campaign of terror in the region, targeting local authorities and civilians accused of collaborating with the government or security forces,” he said.

According to Makama, the Diffa region, located near the borders with Nigeria and Chad, has been a hotspot for insurgent activities.

He added that ISWAP and Boko Haram terrorists frequently carry out attacks against villages, security forces, and humanitarian workers in the Diffa region.
