IWS inaugurates Monye as 65th president
The International Women’s Society (IWS), Nigeria, has inaugurated Mrs. Ifeoma Monye as its 65th President.
The investiture of the president and her executive committee, on Tuesday, at Wheatbaker Hotel, Ikoyi, coincided with the International Women’s Day (IWD).
In the new executive committee with Monye are Mrs. Izabella Abia-Okon (Vice President), Ms. Tita Young (immediate past President), Mrs. Ego Boyo (ex-officio) and Mrs. Nkiru Anumudu (ex-officio).
IWS Nigeria was founded in 1957 by a group of Nigerian and international women in Lagos for the empowerment of indigent women and children. Over the decades, society has championed various charity causes and continues to play a vital role in the area of charity and community service.
In her inauguration speech, Mrs. Monye, a partner at Ciuci Consulting and Co-CEO at Lufudo Group, who has been a member of IWS Nigeria for 20 years, said: “IWD typifies the essence of the women of IWS. Women, who, for 65 years, have tirelessly helped those in need. It is on the shoulders of these women I stand today, not on my own merit but on their work, dedication, sweat, wisdom and legacy.”
