Chairman, Nigerian Breweries and former Minister of Industry, Chief Kola Jamodu, was at the weekend decorated as the Asiwaju of Ere Kingdom, Kogi State. The ceremony, which held at the palace of the Elere of Ere, Oba Titus Makanjuola, at Odo-Ere, headquarters of Yagba West Local Council, was attended by dignitaries and traditional rulers from far and near. It came four years after Makanjuola had bestowed the title on Jamodu.

In his remarks, Jamodu expressed appreciation to the monarch, the chiefs and the people of Ere Kingdom for finding him worthy to be conferred with the chieftaincy title.

His words: “I am humbled by this great recognition and I gladly acknowledge your appreciation of my modest contributions to the development of Ere Kingdom. This is an honour done not only to me but also on my family and I am truly grateful for this rare privilege to be recognised in this special way, which ought to have taken place some years back.

“I am indeed proud to be associated with His Royal Majesty, the chiefs and the good people of Ere. No doubt, this conferment, which I gladly accept, will further encourage me to continue to render valuable services to our kingdom.”

He expressed appreciation to all who contributed to the success of his conferment and prayed for Ere Kingdom to grow from strength to strength and stand tall among equals.

Oba Makanjuola, who described Jamodu as “Ore Rere” (Good friend) noted that his installation as Asiwaju of Ere Kingdom was not by accident but a honour for his resilience in ensuring that Ere progressed with its peers.

The monarch reiterated that the conferment ceremony would not only remain indelible in the annals of the kingdom, but also represented the beginning of a new era of unity and development of the kingdom.
