Jigawa Speaker, Chief Whip, 15 others withdraw from guber, Assembly primaries

Jigawa State House of Assembly Speaker, Idris Kareka; the Chief Whip, Lawan Garba and 15 other members have voluntarily withdrawn from the ongoing primaries in Dutse.

The Guardian gathered that the development might not be unconnected with poor representation, lack of cordial relationship with the House and their various constituencies.

For instance, Kateka was accused of poor management the affairs of the House due to his rampant absence from plenary, among other commitments.

In a letter by AbdulRahman Alkassim, yesterday, to the state chairman of APC and copied chairman of APC in Yankwashi Local Council clearly stated that actions.

Our correspondent reports that moneybags and top government officials sponsored some aspirants’ nomination forms to challenge the incumbent assembly members.

It was further learnt that the lawmakers voluntarily withdrew from the race to avoid embarrassment from delegates.

Efforts to contact the Speaker and Chief Whip for comments proved abortive, as their phone lines could not be reached.

The Chairman of, House Committee on Information, Aminu Zakari, could also not be reached for comments.
