Jigawa to float agency against GBV

The wife of Jigawa State Governor, Hadiza Namadi, has assured members of Muryar Matan Jigawa of support in their campaign against Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

While receiving a delegation of the group, who visited Government House, Dutse, yesterday, she said the state government has plans to establish an agency against GBV.

According to her, the state’s progress is paramount to the governor, while appreciating the team for its commitment to the elimination of GBV.

The first lady said, if formed, the agency would focus on issues bordering on human trafficking and rehabilitation of the destitute, as well as improve orphanages and the Tsangaya system. 

Earlier, the team leader, Maryam Ibrahim of Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Dutse, said they were at Government House to solicit the first lady’s blessings and support for the establishment of the agency.
