JNI, Miyetti Allah, others urge Atiku to accept election outcome
Edo group commends APC candidates for victory
The Jamaatu Nasril Islam (JNI) and Arewa Youth Forum (AYF) have called on the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar to accept the result of last Saturday’s elections in good faith.
In a statement by its Secretary General, Khalid Aliyu yesterday, JNI also urged other contenders to sheath their swords, as there will always be winners and losers in any contest.
The Muslim body also urged security agencies to be proactive to ensure that the electoral process ends successfully and peacefully.
While congratulating President Muhammadu Buhari for emerging victorious in the just concluded elections and charged Atiku to close ranks with Buhari and work for the common good of the country.
Its National Director, Public Affairs, Bello Abdulhamid, enjoined the President to use the second opportunity given to him to transform the country.
Also, stakeholders in Kaduna have urged residents to maintain the peace witnessed during and after the elections in the state.
The stakeholders, comprising Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), National Orientation Agency (NOA) and JNI, among others made the call during a town hall meeting organized by Christian Aid in collaboration with the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development (ACLSD) in Kaduna.
Programme Officer, Gender and Governance, Christian Aid, Mrs. Mercy Onyeama said the aim of the meeting was to mitigate violence during the electoral process in Kaduna State.
However, Muslims have urged Atiku to embrace peace and accept the outcome of the elections without preconditions and congratulate President Buhari on his victory in the interest of the nation.
