Jonathan urges security to check kidnapping,
Ex-President visits released abducted father
Former President, Goodluck Jonathan, has expressed concern over the incessant cases of kidnapping and abduction for ransom, in Bayelsa State and parts of the Niger Delta region.
Jonathan, who visited the home of his abducted foster father, Inegite Nitabai, urged the security agencies to do more to stem the tide.
The ex-president was at the Inegite home, in company of some prominent traditional leaders of Otuoke community, after his release by kidnappers.
Recounting his ordeal in the hands of the kidnappers, Inegite said though his abductors did not maltreat him, he was happy to be back home.
Nitabai, who was abducted last month from his home, expressed sadness over the killing of his nephew, Samuel Oki, who lost his life during the process of his abduction.
He disclosed that the kidnappers came with two speedboats to his home and that, despite his plea to leave his nephew alone, unknown to him, the kidnappers had killed him.
He however thanked all those who sympathized with him and his family during the trying period.
Among the visitors to his home was the paramount ruler of Otuoke, Lot Ogiasa, and clan head of Ogbia kingdom of chiefs, King Lawson, among others.
It would be recalled that Nitabai, a former university lecturer, who was kidnapped on February 17, was released from captivity on Tuesday evening.
According to a security source, the septuagenarian, a community leader in Otuoke, Ogbia Local Council area of Bayelsa State, was freed unharmed and had since re-united with his family
