Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Plateau State chapter, has suspended the strike it embarked upon over a month ago.

Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Plateau State chapter, has suspended the strike it embarked upon over a month ago.

The development came after the committee set up to dialogue on the matter submitted its final report. The union chairman, Philip Longji, announced the suspension on Wednesday evening during a meeting at JUSUN state secretariat.

According to Longji, the agreement to suspend the strike was reached after some resolutions by the negotiating committee.

Following JUSUN’s industrial action on March 7, 2022, the Chief Judge constituted a committee to dialogue on the demands of the union.

After careful deliberations, the committee was informed that the disparity in salaries was being looked into, and that staff promotion had already been implemented.

It was also resolved that the redeployment of the Ministry of Finance would be gradual, depending on the capacity of the judiciary staff to take over from them, and that it would be concluded before the end of the year.

Among other resolution of the committee is that the domestic outfit and security allowances would be the same as peculiar allowances. On the issue, JUSUN wants a ‘table’ agreed upon by the Federal Judiciary Service Commission with 100 per cent financial implication.

Witnesses to all the parties signed the agreement.
