Kaduna CJTF member escapes deadly attack, sustains face injury

A Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) member, Muhammed Saidu, narrowly escaped a deadly attack by a criminal gang in Kaduna State.

One of the gangsters, who inflicted deep face injury on the CJTF officer, has been arrested by the security operatives and charged to a Magistrate court.

During the attack at Kinkinu area of Ugwam Muazu, Kaduna town, the victim was reportedly hit with a knife on the left side of his face.

According to reports, Saidu and other members of the JTF team were on routine patrol of black spots in the “terrorists’ den” when the incident happened.

Addressing journalists in company of his brother and colleagues, yesterday, the victim explained tha, attempt to raid and arrest the group of louts smoking Indian hemp in the place also known as Burglary or ‘Kwauna Uku’ failed, as all of them ran away.

“We were on patrol on July 17, 2023, in the evening around 5.00p.m. We met some boys at ‘Kwauna Uku’ Kinkinnu area of Ungwam Muazu. When we wanted to arrest them, they all ran away.”

When they ran away, one of them, Saleem Sani, came back the same evening with a sharp knife and cut me on my face and ran away, to Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, but was later arrested by CJTF who mobilised members to Abuja, and brought him back to Kaduna.

The CJTF Commander, Ungwam Soja, who confirmed the unfortunate incident, said “the boys attacked people and committed all sorts of crimes against people in the area day and night.”

The suspect was later dragged to the police and charged to court through the instrumentality of the Commissioner of Police after investigation by the Criminal Investigative Department (CID), for prosecution.

Confirming the attack to journalists, in his office, Deputy Police Public Relations Officer (DPPRO), ASP Mansir Hassan, affirmed that “the case has been charged to court.”
