The Kaduna State government has provided financial support and smartphones to 39 #EndBadGovernance protesters who were recently released from detention.
Each of the protesters received N100,000 in cash, a new phone, and additional assistance during a reunion ceremony held on Wednesday at the Children Homes along Kauru Road in Kaduna.
Governor Uba Sani, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Abdulkadir Meyere, assured the protesters of support for their reintegration into society.
The governor committed to providing empowerment opportunities for those who demonstrated lawful behaviour and responsibility.
Meyere revealed that the state government would collect credentials from those who have completed tertiary education and offer start-up capital for business ventures, skills training, and potential employment.
However, the government will closely monitor the behaviour of the released protesters before extending these benefits.
In addition, the released protesters were medically examined and received psycho-social counselling, which included religious guidance from both Islamic and Christian leaders.
“Both Islamic and Christian religious leaders preached to them to embrace the teachings of their faiths and to avoid bad company, so as to benefit from God’s blessings here and in the hereafter,” he said.
The government also took contact details and next of kin information for tracking purposes.
The Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development, Hajiya Rabi Salisu, urged the protesters to be ambassadors of peace and avoid future unlawful actions, encouraging them to reunite with their families before further support and training would be provided.
