Kaduna State Government has pledged to focus on five healthcare areas to provide an adequate health system in the state. The Commissioner of Health, Umma Ahmed, said the administration focused on five pivotal areas through diligent work and collaboration for the well-being of citizens.

She stated this, yesterday, in her keynote address at a programme entitled ‘#Open Kaduna State Health Sector’ organised by a non-governmental organisation on health, popularly known as Kaduna Accountability Mechanism (KADMAM).

According to her, the five areas include Leadership and Governance; Maternal and Child Health; Medicines, Vaccines and Health Commodities; Health Financing and Human Resources for Health, adding that the strides made by the health sector in the state cannot be understated.

Shedding light on the recent signing of the Public Health Law of Kaduna State by Governor Uba Sani, she noted: “Employing the One Health principle underscores our dedication to safeguarding the public from health risks and public health emergencies.”

The commissioner also said the ministry recognised the power of accountability, where citizens hold the health sector leaders to their responsibilities.

Earlier, the Secretary General of KADMAM, Isah Gidado, ran through the concept, purposes and objectives of the organisation in areas of providing accountability to improve healthcare services in the state, among others.
