Kaduna’s healthcare reforms gain momentum

Ministry of Health, Kaduna State

Kaduna State is witnessing significant changes in its healthcare sector as the government intensifies efforts to improve access to quality medical services across urban and rural communities.

Health authorities have embarked on a broad programme aimed at strengthening healthcare infrastructure, expanding service delivery, and improving patient outcomes across the state.

A key focus of the reforms is the rehabilitation and upgrading of hospitals and health centres. Several facilities are being modernised with improved infrastructure and equipment to enhance the quality of care available to residents.

The state government is also expanding access to primary healthcare by upgrading selected Primary Health Centres to provide round-the-clock services. The initiative is expected to reduce the burden on major hospitals while ensuring that residents, particularly those in underserved communities, can access timely medical attention closer to home.

Maternal and child healthcare has remained a priority area, with increased support for immunisation programmes and interventions designed to improve healthcare outcomes for women and children.

Residents and community leaders have begun to report noticeable improvements in healthcare delivery, citing better-maintained facilities, increased availability of medical personnel, and improved access to essential medicines.

The ongoing reforms form part of the state’s broader commitment to strengthening the healthcare system and ensuring that more residents can access reliable and affordable medical services when they need them.
