Former Commissioner for Budget and Planning, in Kano State, Nura Dankaidai, yesterday, handed over affairs of the ministry to the permanent secretary, Auwalu Sanda, despite Governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s rejection of his resignation.

Former Commissioner for Budget and Planning, in Kano State, Nura Dankaidai, yesterday, handed over affairs of the ministry to the permanent secretary, Auwalu Sanda, despite Governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s rejection of his resignation.

Dankaidai was among the 10 commissioners, and other political appointees, who sent in letters of resignation so as to contest political offices next year.

Ganduje had issued ultimatum for his cabinet members eyeing elective offices to resign. The ultimatum expired last Monday.

But Ganduje had rejected the resignation of Dankaidai and three others, including his Chief of Staff (CoS), Ali Makoda; Commissioner for Education, Mohammad Kiru and Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa in charge of health.

However, a mild drama ensued yesterday, as Dankaidai handed over the affairs of the ministry to the permanent secretary at a low-key ceremony.

Although, the ex-commissioner did not disclose why he remained hell-bent on his decision to leave, it was gathered that Dankaidai is prepared to challenge the leader of the House of Representatives for Tudun-Wada/Doguwa, Alhassan Doguwa.

Even as the erstwhile commissioners of education and health are yet to officially accept the rejection of their letters, sources at those ministries hinted that the duo had have not resumed from Easter break.

Meanwhile, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Usman Alhaji, has withdrawn his intention to join the gubernatorial race.

Usman, who declared interest early March 2022 to succeed Ganduje in office next year, stressed that the decision to step down his political ambition was after agreement with concerned interest group.

A statement signed, yesterday, by the leader of Patriotic Volunteers for Good Governance, Ibrahim Gwarzo, disclosed that the SSG withdrew the ambition after consultation with Ganduje, who prevailed on him to suspend the motive.
