THE Kano State government has denied the story reported in a section of the media that it has banned Christians in the state from going to church on Sundays of each month ending.

Dismissing the story as unfortunate, sad and malicious, the state’s Commissioner of Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, Comrade Muhammad Garba, said, “the story is a complete lie, false, lacks any iota of truth and substance, mischievous and aimed at tarnishing the image and good reputation of governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and his administration.”

According to him, the report further added that all efforts by Christian leaders in Kano to appeal to the All Progressives Congress (APC) government in order to reconsider the policy proved abortive.

Maintaining that the said story lacks professional touch, he said, “it is filled with lies, subjectivity, sentiment, bias and irresponsibility, that is capable of breaching the hard earned peace in the state and the existing cordial relationship between the adherents of the two major religions.”

Garba further hinted, “the malicious story also quoted a faceless, unidentified and imaginary Islamic Cleric in the state backing the alleged policy claiming that Kano is an Islamic state, that any Christian, who is not happy with the new directive, should move to another state.”
