Kano gov lauds return of ₦100m excess by uniform production committee

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, saluted the courage of its ad hoc committee on mass production uniforms for prudent management and the return of ₦100 million excess funds.
The committee, led by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Tajo Othman, was entrusted with the responsibility of procurement and production of high-quality materials with an approved budget of ₦2 billion.
The Othman-led committee subsequently demonstrated uncommon integrity, transparency, and accountability by returning unspent funds after the successful execution of the task.
Satisfied with the trustworthiness of the committee, Yusuf said the complete show of honesty, transparency, and accountability is a clear reflection of his administration.
Yusuf, who announced the return of the huge resources during the free distribution of 798,000 sets of school uniforms to public school pupils, applauded the unique attitude of the committee members.
The governor said that while they had the leverage to divert the excess funds for their personal use, the committee resisted the temptation and decided to return them to the government coffers to support further projects.
Yusuf commended the quality of the uniforms provided, assuring the public that the program would be an annual initiative.
He revealed plans to distribute computers to secondary schools across the state, equipping students with digital literacy skills to prepare them for future opportunities.
The governor further appealed to wealthy individuals and corporate organizations to support government efforts in revitalizing education.
He said that while his administration is making great strides in the sector, even small contributions can make a significant difference in transforming lives.
Chairman of the Committee, Othman, revealed that the best quality assurance on the materials and transparency in the management of resources were clearly justified.
The commissioner hailed the government for finding them worthy of contributing to their host community.
