Kano headmaster arrested for selling school furniture

The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) has arrested the Headmaster of Gaidar Makada Special Primary School in Kumbotso Local Government Area for allegedly selling school assets.

According to a statement released on Saturday by Kabir Abba Kabir, the spokesperson for the commission, the arrest was made following the discovery of a scheme involving the illegal sale of vital school property.

“An investigation uncovered that critical items, including metal fixtures, benches, and furniture, had mysteriously disappeared from the school,” Kabir stated.

Suspicion quickly fell on the headmaster, who had previously been flagged for questionable activities during discussions with the School-Based Management Committee (SBMC) and Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) Chairmen.

“The thefts were officially reported today, August 31, 2024, prompting swift action from PCACC,” Kabir added.

The commission is now focused on recovering the stolen property and ensuring that such acts of corruption do not undermine the integrity of educational institutions in Kano State.
