A popular activist and good governance advocate, Comrade Oghenekaro Edor has commended the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Dr Dennis Otuaro over what he described as his knack for giant strides and meaningful developmental drive since assuming office.
He said the Administrator has carried on aggressively building sustainable structure in the programme and selflessly too.
Edor stated this on the sideline of a well attended Niger Delta stakeholders meeting in Abuja, Tuesday, noting that Otuaro is a blessing to the programme and the beneficiaries saying he has continually succeeded where others before him had failed the people.
The programme was already hitting the rocks, according to Edor, before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu being a talent hunter appointed Otuaro to breathe life into the dying programme that he noted was once a cashcow to all and sundry.
Edor noted among other progress made by Otuaro since becoming the Administrator of the intervention agency, the scholarship scheme recently embarked upon by the programme.
He said most benefiaries are in the private universities across the country studying, which is a life changing intervention.
“Otuaro remains the best for the programme and for us, the Federal government should do more to increase the budgetary allocations to the PAP for it to attain the desired height. As a regional intervention agency, Otuaro prioritises human development – training and retraining of the productive population, empowerment and strong capacity building,” he stated.
He said the new generation of the Niger Delta youths would be unique in terms of their productive capacity as made possible by the visions of Otuaro who’s bent on ensuring that Delta region produces dependable youth population.
Edor took the advantage of the meeting to commiserate with the family of the late former Minister of Information, Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark whose demise was announced by the family on Tuesday.
He described him as the father of the modern South-South geopolitical zone and the founder of the Niger Delta.
According to him, Pa Clark was a collosus and dogged advocate of good governance and a hater of corruption.
Edor condoled the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) on the passing away of its chairman, noting that the solace of the lovers of the late pan Ijaw nationalist should rest in the promise of resurrection.
He called on the FG to immortalise the late Clark saying he led a life of fulfillment, accomplishment and excellence as a strong pillar on which the Niger Delta stands.
