KCOBA president decries leadership quality in Nigeria   

The President, King’s College Old Boys’ Association (KCOBA), Alhaji Kashim Ibrahim-Imam, has decried the dwindling progress of Nigeria, which he blamed on bad leadership.

Ibrahim-Imam spoke, yesterday, at a press conference organised by KCOBA, to commemorate the 114th anniversary of King’s College, Lagos with the theme: “Dismantling the Barriers: Creating a Pathway for the Emergence of Effective Leaders in Nigeria.”

The anniversary, slated to hold between Monday, September 18, and Sunday, September 24, will discuss matters that would create the pathway for effective leaders that would unite the country, take her out of the woods, move her forward and give her a new image.

“It is unfortunate that the crop of politicians that crave for leadership positions in the country lack discipline, integrity and are not ready to offer selfless service but only to steal and loot the treasury of the nation”.

He lamented the current situation in the country whereby corruption has become the order of the day, which is a departure from the ideals and virtues upon which King’s College was founded and intended to resonate across the country.

The Chairman, KingsWeek 2023 Planning Committee, Mr. Olumide Apata, said King’s College is not just a school but a college established to produce effective leaders that would be the identity of the country.

He disclosed that the anniversary would commence with Virtual Conference the first day, to be followed with Back To School the second day, while the third day will feature Founder’s Day Lecture which is the highlight of Kingsweek that will usher in high-profile speakers such as APC Gubernatorial candidate, Rivers State, Tonye Cole, among others, while the anniversary would be rounded up with Annual General Meeting on the last day.
The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwoolu, is also expected at the event.
