Kebbi gives cash gifts to workers, non-indigenes, others

The Kebbi government has doled out financial gifts to federal workers and non-indigenes across the state. Briefing journalists yesterday in Birnin Kebbi, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Babale Umar Yauri, said the gesture was in the spirit of Eid-el Kabir and enjoyment of good governance. He said non-governmental organisations (NGOs), as well as traditional, religious leaders also benefitted from the largesse, urging support for the Governor Atiku Bagudu administration in the state.

Thanking the citizens for their solidarity, Yauri noted: “Governor Atiku Bagudu has been treating the people of the state fairly irrespective of political and religious inclinations.”

Since government is a collective responsibility, the SSG attributed the feats of the current government to the support of the people.
He said: “We have also been admonished by Islam to always extend our milk of human kindness to the less-privileged in the society.

“We have also been charged to be our brother’s keeper, so as to alleviate the suffering of the less- privileged.” Yauri pleged that the state government will continue to treat all segments of the society justly. He appealed for the sustenance of peace and unity in the country.

“I am therefore optimistic that the forthcoming Sallah will be rancour-free and memorable. But, by way of appeal, we should be law-abiding and peaceful.

“People should also adhere to all the COVID-19 protocols of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) during the celebration,” the official urged.

They observed that since the creation of the state on August 27,1991, no government, be it military or civilian, had extended Sallah and Christmas packages to non-indigenes.

“It is only this very administration, led by Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, that has ever remembered the non-indigenous community leaders and their people,” Nwosu stated.
