THE prevailing harmattan can take a toll on various leather furniture and materials in the home. The tell tale signs of this atmosphere that is characterised by the northeast trade wind can cause leather to contract, peel, and crack. Items such as beds and settees made with leather suffer these impacts by the dry weather. These ways, their overall presentation and functionality are adversely affected.

The panacea is maintenance by moisturising by care specialist in leather products during cleaning process to prevent its being knocked down under the weather. Replacing moisture in the leather will help to give lasting age and make the furniture look great again.

Reasonable level of care is needed under normal usage and is also needed in the protection of weather from the elements. Dust frequently to prevent clogging the pores. Wipe excess spill and liquid with absorbent cloth once they occur. Avoid using soap or soaking stain heavily with water as this may cause more damage.

Do not expose to sunlight as this can cause the colour to fade. Ensure that the right cleaning solutions are used because some chemicals remove the natural oils contained in leather.
