The United States Secretary of State, John Kerry, who visits Nigeria today, is expected to have a private audience with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The visiting U.S. top diplomat, according to media advisory released to State House correspondents, yesterday, would hold bilateral discussions in the President’s office, and later meet with select governors from the North.

But according to the schedule, Kerry would not speak to State House press corps after both meetings. It is, however, expected that the governors would later brief journalists after his exit.

It would be recalled that the official information released at the weekend by the Information Office of the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria had confirmed that Kerry would meet with Buhari on August 23, and would also deliver a speech on countering violent extremism.
