Kidnapped Imo Catholic priest regains freedom

After four days in the captivity of his abductors, a Catholic priest in Imo State, Rev. Fr. John Ubaechu, has regained freedom.

Ubaechu, the parish priest of Holy Family Catholic Church, Izombe, Oguta local council of Imo State, was kidnapped last Sunday on Ejemekwuru Road, in the same local council, on his way to priests’ annual retreat in the state.

His release was disclosed in a statement signed by the Secretary of the Archdiocese, Rev Fr. Patrick Mbarah,

“The Catholic Archdiocese of Owerri in Imo State has confirmed the release of one of its priests, Revd Fr. John Ubaechu,” Mbarah said.
