Commander, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), Major-General Augustine Agundu, has described the unfortunate and avoidable killings in Plateau State as a big shame because people are holding onto inconsequential strands to perpetuate and promote helplessness and hopelessness on vulnerable persons that OPSH and other security personnel are supposed to protect.

Agundu pointed out that it is a shame that “our children have to teach us how to live in peace and harmony. Either you call it farmers/herders crisis which I have not seen one because these two vocations have been existing in an amicable co-existence. You call it cattle rustling. I don’t call it cattle rustling. It is stealing and armed robbery.” He regretted that there are individuals benefiting from the circle of violence saying the circle of violence and mayhem could be stopped if the elites are determined to collaborate on the path of peace.

The Commander said that if people are blinded by personal interests, they will certainly not see the potentials in the opportunities, stressing that as Commander of OPSH, he will execute his mandate handed down to him by the Chief of Defence Staff professionally. He told the people of the state to eschew violence and pursue the path of peace and co-existence so that they can attract much needed development to the state.
