The APC, which defeated the PDP in the state in the presidential and National Assembly elections, raised the alarm over alleged plot by the PDP in connivance with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state to use its adhoc staff to discard the use of card readers at various polling units in order to manipulate the election to their favour.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State has vowed to resist any attempt by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to rig the governorship and House of Assembly elections scheduled to hold on Saturday.

At a press conference at the weekend in Lokoja, addressed by the Chairman, Publicity Committee of the APC Election Committee in the state, Ojapa Ibrahim, APC said in desperate effort to rig the election, thousands of political thugs have been recruited and supplied with assorted dangerous weapons to disrupt the forthcoming election, especially in areas where APC is in control.

Ibrahim who gave further details of the alleged plan said the information at their disposal revealed that the armed thugs will embark on indiscriminate shootings a day to the election in order to scare women from coming out to cast their votes knowing fully well that women constitute the largest chunk of voters.

The APC therefore appeal to the security agencies in the state to be on the look out in order to save the state from descending into anarchy following the alleged desperate attempt to create mayhem in the state.

The APC called on its members to ignore whatever threat being issued by the PDP and come out en- masse in the coming Saturday to demonstrate their political might while maintaining law and order in their domains.

Meanwhile, in a bid to consolidate the party’s victory at the just concluded Presidential/National Assembly election, the state APC Chairman, Alhaji Hadi Ametuo, has called on the people to vote massively for the candidates of the party in the April 11 governorship and House of Assembly elections.

Ametuo, who spoke to newsmen in Lokoja, said the impressive voting conducted by the people of the state in the last month polls were a clear indication of the peoples readiness for a total change.

He further stated that if APC is voted in the coming poll in the state, it will enable the state to fall into mainstream national politics, adding that Kogi cannot afford to be in the minority.

The APC chairman also lamented the alleged backlog of salaries of local government workers and teachers in the state. He boasted that if his party eventually wins the governorship position in the state, the issues will be addressed..
