Kogi Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal Relocates To Abuja

GavelTHE President of the Appeal Court, Justice Zainab Bulkashua has ordered the immediate relocation of the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Lokoja to Abuja for further sittings and other businesses of the three-member panel.

Secretary of the tribunal, Mr. Akanji Akinlabi, who confirmed the relocation said the directive given on Thursday was from the President of the Court of Appeal.

Akinlabi who said that the panel and its secretariat had up till Monday, next week to complete its relocation in line with the directive, added that reasons for the movement were not made known to him.

It would be recalled that the tribunal which has Justice Halima Mohammed as chairman, Justice Patricia Ajoku and Justice Ogbogo Ejembi as members, commenced sitting in Lokoja on January 11, with six petitions.

Those whose petitions are pending at the tribunal include James Faleke, running mate to the late All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Prince Abubakar Audu, Capt.

Idris Wada, Labour Party, Progressive Peoples’ Alliance (PPA), the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). All the petitions are challenging the return of Alhaji Yahaya Bello as winner of the November 21, governorship election and December 5, supplementary election in the state.
