apc-vc-pdp-THE All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State has raked in some prominent members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who joined their fold yesterday in Lokoja.

Alhaji Jibrin Isah Echocho, the runner up to Governor Idris Wada in the PDP governorship primary election, led the decampees. Honorable Muhammed Ibrahim Idris, son of former Governor Ibrahim Idris, was also among the decampees.

The former governor and his son are now at opposing camps ahead of the November 21 governorship polls as he (Idris) had‎ since declared his support for the incumbent Governor after he failed to stop Wada at the primary.

Echocho and hundreds of his supporters yesterday declared for the APC at the Lokoja Confluence Stadium, venue of the PDP primary where he lost to Governor Wada, who is seeking a second term in office.

They were received by the APC candidate for the governorship election, Prince Abubakar Audu and his running mate, Hon. James Abiodun Faleke.

The move by Echocho had long been anticipated, following the mass defection of his key supporters to the APC during the build-up to the last general election.

While addressing APC supporters at the stadium, Echocho said he was back home finally.

Elated by the development, Audu noted in his address that with the new decampees, PDP would be finally buried in the state on November 21. He said he was not seeking to come back to power to take any revenge or victimise anybody, declaring that “power shift or rotation” would be realisable under his administration.

Audu said the APC has a master plan for the transformation of Kogi, saying the results would manifest within the first six months if he were voted into
office.

He said: “PDP in Kogi State has proved its gross inability to impact on the lives of our people. They are by themselves retreating because they have run out of lies that they sold as ideas, just as they imposed thuggery on Kogi State. Now is the time and the PDP will finally be buried on November 21, 2015”.

He praised the decampees for their courage in the face of what he described as the high level of deceit being perpatrated by the PDP in the state.

Meanwhile, ahead of the election, the 2face Foundation has launched a “Vote Not Fight” campaign to sensitise residents of the state, particularly the youths, to shun all forms of violence during the exercise.

The foundation in partnership with Project Youth Emancipation for the Society (ProjectYes) and the Centre for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution (CHRCR), at the launch of the initiative tagged “Vote Not Fight — Election No Be War”, said the campaign was to promote positive participation of youths across the state in the election.
