The General Superintendent, Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi, has called on Nigerians to support the present administration in its effort to bring the expected change to Nigeria.

Speaking yesterday at the International Bible Training Centre (IBTC), Ayobo, Lagos, when Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State paid a courtesy call and worshipped with the church, Kumuyi asked Nigerians to be hopeful and do their part for government to actualise its plans.

“We need hope as Nigerians. And once we have hope and we know where we are going and that we are not going to stay where we are now forever, we then begin to make the change from within.

“There is a desire that this is where we are going and the question is, how do we get there? The answer is: the change begins with me, begins with you and with the people that have the idea and desire in mind to make a change.

“It may be a baby step, a single step, another step, but, eventually, we will get to the very place God is taking us to as a nation. Nigeria will be better,” Kumuyi said.

Governor Emmanuel in his remarks stressed the need for the nation to focus on development of agriculture.“I know overtime that we have been over-dependent on oil and the situation we find ourselves now call for a rethink so that we can be serious with diversification of our economy,” he said.

The governor, who reiterated that the first consideration of a government should be how to feed the citizens, said he was already doing that in the state. He noted that leaders of developed nations place priority on feeding their nationals, an idea that Nigerians should emulate by going back to farming because there are so much that could be got from the land.

The governor, who said no one could become a leader without the knowledge of God, called on all Nigerians to join hands in the battle against corruption, adding that the battle should start from every Nigerian.

“There is no small or big corruption; telling lies is corruption, because anyone telling lies can also perpetrate any kind of evil. This is the reason we, as Nigerians, should begin to re-direct our minds and get our social structures in place,” he said.
