Worried by the spate of religious killings in the country, the Ogun State Overseer of the Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor Dele Rosilu yesterday charged President Mohammadu Buhari to urgently take definite steps to stop them “before it generates into a national crisis”.

The cleric spoke at a Press Conference to herald the visit of the General Superintendent of the Church, Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi to the State for a power packed crusade tagged “Turn around 2016”, scheduled for Friday, August 5 at the M.K.O Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta.

Rosilu, who condemned the increasing rate of religious killings in the country, urged religious leaders to always preach peaceful coexistence among their faithful and not hateful messages that would aggravate crisis, stressing that people must learn to tolerate each other.

The clergyman urged governments at all levels to take the security of lives and property of the people seriously, insisting that the people must feel safe in their respective houses.

He said it is the duty of the government to provide adequate security for its citizens, noting that despite the recent developments, the people still believe in the administration of Mohammed Buhari in bringing the country out of the woods. He urged the government to be more proactive in resolving the issue of wearing of hijabs to school by female pupils, urging the government to conduct a thorough investigation on the matter to prevent it from generating into a major religious crisis.

The clergyman expressed the optimism that Nigeria would survive even in the face of economic, religious and political crisis facing the nation and urged the people to be closer to God. Rosilu also condemned the alleged diversion of some relief materials meant for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), saying that whoever is involved should repent or face the wrath of God.
