State partners NRC to actualise FG’s food security agenda

Former Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has described Niger State Governor, Muhammad Umaru Bago’s leadership style and commitment to development, particularly in the areas of agriculture, youth empowerment and education, is a model worthy of emulation by his colleagues nationwide.

He made the commendation while speaking at the 60th birthday of Bishop Idahosa Isaac Odiri, the vice presidential candidate of the NNPP, in Lagos, at the weekend.

According to a statement issued by Special Adviser on Print Media to Governor Bago, Aisha Wakaso, Kwankwaso said the governor’s recent initiative to sponsor young people abroad for science-related courses is commendable, adding that it was a step in the right direction.

Kwankwaso had urged Bago to continue investing in young people, saying they were the real investment, as they transcend material wealth.

BESIDES, Governor Bago is partnering with the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) to address post-harvest challenges.   He disclosed this during his discussion with NRC’s Managing Director, Dr Kayode Opeifa, at the palace of Oniru of Iru-land, Oba Abdulwasiu Omogholaha Lawal Abiosogun II, in Lagos.

The governor assured that his administration will continue discussions with the NRC to ensure a solid partnership for the safe transportation of food items within the country by rail.He said Niger State had keyed into the food security initiative of the Federal Government and was doing very well.

In his remarks, Opeifa assured the governor that the Corporation would support his administration in the logistics and supply chain process.The Oniru of Iru-Land, Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal Abisogun, reiterated his support to the Niger government in actualising the food security initiative under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
