Kwara Speaker emerges as Chairman, APC Conference of Speakers

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Conference of Speakers has elected the Speaker of Kwara House of Assembly, Mr Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, as its Chairman.

This is contained in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Mr Sheu Abdulkadir on Saturday in Ilorin.

“The conference announced Mr Danladi-Salihu as its new Chairman after a competitive, transparent, and democratic election.

”Other elected officials of the conference are Mr Moses Odunwo (Ebonyi) – Deputy Chairman; Mr Chiroma Buba (Yobe) – Vice Chairman, North and Mr Olamide Oladiji (Ondo state) – Vice Chairman, South.

”The remaining elected officials are Mr Elvert Ayambem (Cross Rivers) – Treasurer and Mr Yusuf Liman (Kaduna) – Financial Secretary.

”The conference recognised the indispensable role of legislative autonomy in upholding democratic principles and ensuring effective governance,” he said.

He added: ”It reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding and upholding the autonomy of the legislative arm at all levels of government to promote good governance that would engender Nigeria’s growth and progress.”
