The Plateau State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Eugene Manji, and his Trade Union Congress (TUC) counterpart, Comrade Kenneth Chiama, have said that they will not participate in the nationwide protest starting from today because there was no such directive from their headquarters.
Manji, in a chat with journalists in Jos, said that even the national secretariat of NLC is not aware of any protest as the proposed nationwide protest has no credible source.
He acknowledged the fact that Nigerians are facing economic hardship, but the NLC does not endorse the protest.

Also, Chiama of TUC confirmed that none of his members will participate in the protest, saying, “Our statement and position is that we are not part of that protest.”
The two leaders called for calm among their members, urging them to disregard the social media reports about the protest.
They said that though the protest is constitutionally enshrined, protesters must go about it in a peaceful manner, urging the security agencies to ensure a peaceful atmosphere.
