Labour minister mourns ex-COAS Alli

Minister of Labour and Employment, Simon Lalong, has described the death of former Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Gen. Chris Alli (rtd), as a huge loss to the nation and Plateau State in particular.

The former Plateau governor said Alli, who was Military Governor of Plateau and later Interim Administrator when emergency was imposed on the state, would be remembered as a man of integrity, dignity and excellence.

In a statement, yesterday, by his Special Adviser (Media), Dr. Makut Macham, the minister said the deceased exhibited high sense of loyalty, patriotism and commitment to national service, peace, reconciliation and security during his lifetime both in service and in retirement.

Lalong said the role played by Alli in finding peace and encouraging reconciliation, truth and forgiveness in Plateau could not be forgotten, as his efforts made it easier for the Rescue Administration he superintended between 2015 and 2023 to galvanise the people and build institutions, which are pivotal to security.

Consoling the bereaved family over the loss, the minister prayed to God to give them the ability to carry on with his legacies of service to humanity and love without discrimination.
