The Amir and Lead Imam of the Lagos State House of Assembly Muslim Community, Abdushshakur Adeleke Osoala, has called on Muslims across Nigeria and globally to embrace peace, unity, and harmonious coexistence as they celebrate Eid al-Adha.
In a goodwill message released to mark the Islamic festival, Osoala urged the faithful to reflect deeply on the spiritual significance of the celebration, which symbolises sacrifice, obedience, faith, and total submission to the will of Allah.
He noted that Eid al-Adha remains a cornerstone of the Islamic calendar, commemorating the unwavering faith of Prophet Ibrahim, whose devotion serves as a timeless lesson for humanity.
According to the cleric, the occasion should transcend mere merriment, serving instead as a season to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and promote compassion within various communities.
“Eid al-Adha teaches us the values of sacrifice, tolerance, generosity, and love for humanity,” Osoala said. “As we celebrate this sacred festival, Muslims should continue to uphold peaceful coexistence, show kindness to neighbours, support the less privileged, and foster unity irrespective of ethnic, religious, or political differences.”
The Amir further admonished Muslims to use the festive period to pray fervently for the peace, stability, and progress of Lagos State and Nigeria. Stressing the importance of maintaining law and order, he encouraged residents to celebrate responsibly.
He also appealed to affluent individuals and corporate organisations to support vulnerable members of society through acts of charity, food sharing, and humanitarian gestures to alleviate the burdens of struggling families.
Osoala offered prayers for the success of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the leadership of the Lagos State House of Assembly, led by the Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa.
Concluding his message, the cleric wished Muslims a spiritually fulfilling celebration, while urging them to sustain the virtues of sacrifice and compassion long after the festivities.
